When I was a kid, I was excited for Home Alone sequels BECAUSE they did the same formula.
The meat of the movie for me was to see what new creative traps laid in wait for the burglars. The plot really was just an excuse for it.
9:03 Oh sorry, I did not know I was meant to feel bad until the music came on.
You should have added:Sequels are made immediately to live off the success of the first movie and can often fail to recieve even close to the imagination of the second.A few times they do but often not.I love the 3 indiana jones, even the last crusade equally to the first, and that is because its well directed has great lines, great characters and great story.
Hey, with the new Duck Tales Reboot coming out can you make another video like this except about why reboots stink? You don’t do enough videos about animated series.
Wanna end homelessness? Use sound money, not fiat!
lol get lost! i loved Blair witch 2
How is Home Alone 3 the worst sequel in the series 4 was a remake and the only thing consistent is the number formula. 1 Kevin is not Hone Alone 2 I counted about 3 tricks used not a single one a booby trap no old actors yet they used them in 3 (please remind me otherwise) 3 Kevin is 9 years old in 1 he was 8 2 can’t decide and Marc and Kevin say that they met before so it is a remake of the second film just in a mansion and nowhere else so no classic church chat in sight
The traps in Home alone were mostly cheeky and cute, if a bit absurd at times. The traps in Home Alone 2 were just plain sadistic, and many would kill a man in real life.
Am I the only one on Planet Earth that seriously enjoyed Home Alone 2?
I only came here for Bill
I still love Son of the mask.
Originals start as “There’s this story in my head that I want to tell.”
Sequels start as “I was hired to do something with these characters.”
What about sequels to films where the original one sucked?
You shut your face. Clerks 2 is better than Clerks, and that is a scientific fact.
1:32 teach that to Nintendo *cough cough* “new” super Mario
Do people really hate home alone 2?? :'(
Dumb and dumber…waited too long!
I think of all the issues with sequels listed, the lack of understanding of the source material is a massive factor, along with the filmmakers simply not caring. Case in point, when the Deadpool movie was being made, the studio kept slashing its budget and making production super-difficult. But the crew (especially Ryan Renolds) were all really dedicated to getting a good Deadpool movie made, and even managed to turn those setbacks into strengths: they cut out subplots and scenes that would have dragged the plot down and made the running gag about Deadpool forgetting to bring weapons to his big fights.
I hope goosebumps 2 and Godzilla 2 don’t turn out to bomb like some of these films
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Best sequel I know!
Wasn’t godfather 2 better? And Terminator? And the dark kn- I’ll stop
I personally found Home alone 2 better as a kid because I thought it was funnier but in the end…Kevin went through the same journey and learned the exact same lesson. It acted as if he was a little more alert and understood things better but key word is “acted” when it came down to it, it was as if he forgotten what the first movie thought and had to learn it all over again in at a different time.
I’m still not ready to admit that I didn’t like Clerks II.
cough endless horror movie sequels cough
It’s weird how most repeating movies aren’t liked by audiences, but Toy Story 3 somehow gets a pass.
I feel that the toy story movies have been ended very nicely. It’s like u say in the video, the last one they left off on is fine. I hear they might make a toy story 4, but I say DON’T! It’s fine! Toy story 3’s ending was awesome and beautiful! Leave it that way plz!
I actually like Home Alone 2
Did you react to Bambi 2
Did you like Bambi 2
wonder woman 2 will be dark knight level of awesome
I hope he does a thing on why so many book to film adaptations fail.
Are movies typically made with a potential sequel in mind? Because I feel like the sudden decision to make an unprecedented sequel is also a factor; you have to shoehorn in plot points and details in something that was already finished (like you said, no improvements or additions necessary). Meanwhile, if you’ve already planned for the the story to continue with a clear “goal” for each part, the series is probably gonna be more cohesive.
pacific rimjob 2:counter clockwise.
theology debate touch naked record.
The guy who directed Godzilla (1998) said he hated the original Godzilla movies, which is why it was horrible.
The new terminator was fucking trash.
Is it wrong that I love the Star Wars prequels (although Jar Jar Binks was eh) and LOVED Terminator Salvation (in my opinion, the second-best Terminator film, after T2)?
Wait wait wait clerks 2 was highly accepted and well like
I’m sorry, but what the hell is this? 9:32
Karate Kid part 2 imo is an example of a great sequel. It actually shed some light on the mysterious Mr. Miyagi and his background and origins of Okinawa. It showed us that Miyagi was not a god, and he did make some bad mistakes in his younger days, like telling the whole village he was marrying Yuki(which was supposed to be secret) when she was already scheduled to marry Sato, then running away from a fight of honour against Sato, which lead to Yuki refusing Sato, which fuelled his anger further.
We also see Larusso actually starting to figure out karate on his own. Seeing the application of that Okinawan toy in the philosophy of karate.
They also don’t know the difference between original as in brand new kind of and really old original when it comes to characters (Matt Smith as the new Skynet in Terminator: Genisys.)
Heh, just like how some people consider the after-2012 seasons of your show to not be as good as the first ones.
Am I the only one who loves it when he says good things about films he generally rails against? You know “Home Alone 2” (Overlooked Christmas Specials) “Space Jam” (Looney Tunes movies) and “The Phantom Menace” (Good things about the Star Wars prequels)? It’s so heartwarming.
Video Games have the best sequels over than movies just look at Batman: Arkham City and Skyrim!
Probably because there’s a lot more bad movies than good ones
it’s 2017 lighting
the beginning is annoying as hell
Cars 2 had an original plot. Cars 3 felt very similar to Cars 1. Why does everyone hate Cars 2 but like Cars 3?
JAWS 3 Was pretty damn fun. The best shark death scene ever, from the angle of inside the shark. It still leaves a special place as a cool factor. And who could forget “Overman was killed inside the park. The baby was caught inside the park. Its mother is inside the park”…
