Man I gotta say the older Doug gets the younger he looks
I think that is the secret to great movie making, passion and heart 🙂
What was fistful of dollars remade from?
Now imagine a remake of foodfight
I’m surprised that he didn’t bring up the remake of the movie ‘The Haunting’ which he hated so much compared to the original.
Their was a shining remake ?
One of these days I’d like to have someone tell Doug that Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland has nothing to do with the 1951 movie
If they remake Garbage Pail Kids, it’s only fair Howard the Duck gets a remake.
great video
I feel my favorite “remake” (and I use that loosely) is O’ Brother, Where Art Thou?
It’s basically a remake of the Odyssey, but it’s such a different time, place, and experience that you could show it to someone and they’d never know.
It’s also a fucking stellar film.
ever
Excuse me, did the Nostalgia Critic, my favorite youtuber, just say that Little Shop of Horrors was a musical version of the Bee Movie??? That was just plain uncalled for. LSoH is and awesome, classic, cheesy horror film. Bee Movie is an hour and a half of poor animation and insect puns. Not cool Critic.
Gambit is willy Wankers
I know this is a super unpopular opinion, but, save Emma Watson, I thought Beauty and the Beast did a lot of great stuff, and there was legitimate expansion and more depth to some of the writing, because the movie took time to explain some plot holes and to explore the characters as more than cartoons. While the main draw to making it was the medium shift, I think there were some genuine improvements there, despite some drawbacks, and a lot of it is on par with the original. I don’t see exactly why the original is so beloved among the rest, but apparently it’s so treasured that nothing Disney did could have a satisfied the fans.
Drop Dead Fred Remake=Wilfred
Another remake that did it right? John Carpenter’s The Thing. Expanded both the material of the original short story and with paying homage to the Howard Hawks 1954 movie. Oh and the visual effects are still sublime to this day, vastly improving over the 1954 version’s slightly ‘schlocky monster’ and made you feel that the Thing was a real alien organism that could take you over and nobody would be the wiser. You can feel Carpenter’s reference for the original but also his passion to make a film that could stand on its own.
ahhh Freddy Highmore in Charlie in the chocolate factory as the happy boy to Norman Bates in Bates motel as the famous psychotic murderer. Good actor.
Why do a remake-or a reboot-a film which has sequels to it to begin with.
Just don’t remake something if the first one was already beautiful.
I’m looking at you Willy Wonka.
Citizen Kane is getting a remake and I am not looking forward to that.
of course i think of Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka, wtf? neither me nor any one i know was aware of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory being a remake
00:13 DAFUQ was that.. oh wait it was the audience?
Hollywood… “we’ve got to have money”
There was a Shining Remake? My life is ruined…
Remaking a good movie has it’s ups and downs, but every bad movie *deserves* a remake to get it done right.
that’s awesome you guys support the MDA.
This is why i am sort of hopeful about the new death note, the different culture and it seems to be exploring the concept in a different way
Personally, I would love to see a remake of the movie Dune with the possibility of it being a trilogy of sorts.
The vast majority of people that hated the new Ghostbusters were people that didn’t think the trailer was funny.
A Fistful of Dollars is not better than Yojimbo.
I think the first problem with The Last Airbender movie was trying to condense the entire first season of the show into one movie. There’s so much in the first season that the only chance you’d have of making a faithful adaptation is if you made it longer than Gone With The Wind, and I don’t see movies being even 3 hours long being made these days. That’s the mistake that some may not even realize.
Like it or not, Zombie’s Halloween remake did not just copy the original. The basic plot is similar, but there are many deviations from the original film.
I didn’t ask for a remake of beauty and the beast! Yet I found it charming! But I prefer Cinderella! That one was better!
Thank god there is no dark knight remakes.
They should remake Logan and make it PG-13.
Thank god! A Nostalgia Critic video without boring skits for once! 🙂
Disney shouldn’t do Live Action versions of their Animated movies, sure they do well at the box office but that’s just the “New”, as soon as it wears out people will see how cheap they are, how different the story feels and how it doesn’t have the same magic as the animated versions. It’s like remaking The Princess’s Bride and having Patrick Stewart as Wesley…it sounds amazing, but it wouldn’t work. Sometimes people want too much, I see remakes as lazy, running out of ideas.
Oh boi, The Wicker Man with Cage was a remake ? Hory Shet I have to watch the original one…
Coming Soon.
Nostaliga Critic Remake.
With Adam Sandler as the “wacky” Nostaliga Critic who isn’t taken seriously.
What’s the movie at 3:06?
Sorry, I’m a nub.
thank you
Out of all the reboots this year so far I’ve enjoyed Power Rangers the most.
“When should a remake not happen” I’ll make it short for you: When the original is as close to perfect as possible. We didn’t need a remake to “Willy Wonka”, but the Charlton Heston Ben-Hur is greatly needed because the original one had flaws and was a little outdated. (and who in God’s name asked for a THIRD Ben-Hur)?! There’s your answer.
I think one of the reasons why so many recently released remakes failed so much is because they built up on great movies and many people were waiting for them to fail or not be as good as the original. I wish more producers and directors chose not so good or well remembered movies to remake, since they are the ones that may have great and unexplored potential.
I don’t know. Maybe do this over with again with Rob.
the evil dead remake was great the best remake ive seen in years.
I HIGHLY disagree with your views on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
And yet the new “Beauty and the Beast” made an insane amount of money… despite pretty much overall agreement that it wasn’t as good as the original… and yet they went to see it multiple times and it grossed over a billion. Meaning Disney will go right on with the weaker live-action plays on nostalgia. People really are stupid.
The “Pete’s Dragon” remake is reason #4 not to do a remake: when it’s so drastically changed it bears almost no resemblance to the original and instead looks more like another movie (coughIronGiantcough)
